Société Générale (Kralja Petra)

In the year 2014, Societe Generale Bank embarked on an ambitious project to establish a new branch office in Belgrade, Serbia. The location chosen was the iconic Kralja Petra Street, a historic area that holds cultural significance for the city. The bank entrusted the renowned architectural firm Arhi.pro, led by the talented designer Anja Ivana Milić, with the task of transforming the existing building into a modern office space while preserving its historical charm. This collaboration marked 15 years of a successful partnership between Arhi.pro and Societe Generale, setting the stage for a remarkable project that harmoniously blended the past and the present.

Building and Location: The building selected for the project was a heritage structure that dated back to 1930. It was originally designed by the esteemed architect Hugo Erlih and was once home to the Yugoslavian United Bank. The property, located in the heart of Belgrade on Kralja Petra Street, fell under the protection of The Belgrade City Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments due to its significant historical value. This presented a unique challenge for Arhi.pro, as the renovation had to comply with stringent preservation guidelines to ensure the building's historical integrity remained intact.

Architectural Design: Arhi.pro, renowned for its innovative approach to architectural design, took on the task of carefully blending the rich heritage of the building with the modern corporate identity of Societe Generale. The firm's role encompassed everything from concept design to the development of preliminary and detailed architectural, structural, and MEP designs.

To maintain the building's historic façade, Arhi.pro meticulously restored the exterior, paying close attention to period details, while reinforcing the structure to meet contemporary safety standards. This sensitive approach ensured that the historical significance of the building was respected and enhanced.

Interior Design: One of the most challenging aspects of the project was creating an interior that aligned with Societe Generale's brand standards without compromising the building's historical features. Arhi.pro, being the author of the interior design, took on this task with creativity and finesse.

The interior design concept involved a seamless fusion of classic and modern elements. While preserving and highlighting the original architectural features such as ornate moldings, decorative ceilings, and elegant arched windows, the firm introduced contemporary furnishings, sleek lines, and sophisticated technology. The result was a space that exuded both a sense of grandeur and professionalism.

Arhi.pro meticulously planned the layout to ensure optimal functionality and a conducive work environment for the bank's employees. Open workspaces, private meeting rooms, and customer service areas were thoughtfully integrated, promoting collaboration and seamless customer interactions.
